Classes at Temesecal Canyon High School will continue Tuesday after a rumor of shooting circulated over the weekend.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- Law enforcement responded to Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore on Monday due to a rumor of a shooting threat that circulated through the community over the weekend.

Authorities say they received a report on Saturday that a student was overheard telling another student that there was going to be a shooting on campus on Monday.

Police received additional calls about the threat Sunday, and "information was also being shared over social media," authorities said in a statement.

Investigators were able to identify the source of the information and the person who allegedly made the threat. Both people, identified only as juveniles who attend the school, were detained for questioning.

District officials said later in the day that additional students were taken in for questioning. So far no one has been arrested or charged.

School was kept open, and officials said the campus was secure. Security was increased at the school as a precaution. Many parents pulled their students from school due to the threat rumor.

District officials said classes will continue Tuesday and extra security will be on campus.

The investigation into the threat is ongoing.
