PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a man was found stabbed to death in Pico Rivera early Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to a robbery call in a gated community in the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane at 1:35 a.m. Neighbors identified the victim as Sergio Gutierrez Sr., 50. He was found with several stab wounds and was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

Sheriff's officials earlier reported that the stabbing happened during a home-invasion robbery, but they are now unsure if a robbery had occurred. It was unclear if anything was taken from the home.

Detectives identified Sergio Gutierrez, Jr., the victim's 17-year-old son, as a person of interest. He is wanted for questioning, authorities said.

Gutierrez, his wife and Gutierrez Jr. were all home at the time. Gutierrez Jr. took off in the family's car following the violence, authorities said. The car is described as a silver 2000 Infiniti, with a California license plate of 4MAB667.

Authorities said they have been called to the home in the past for domestic issue involving the teen. The teen has drug problems, according to neighbors.
