Thanksgiving travel: Drivers enjoy cheaper gas

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- For those travelling by car this Thanksgiving, the average price per gallon is $3.11 as of Wednesday.

At this time last year, it was $3.59, and the year before that, it was $3.80.

It's making all the difference in whether some people decide to leave town.

The California Highway Patrol will be out on maximum patrol from 6 p.m. Wednesday to midnight Sunday.
