SILVERADO CANYON, ORANGE COUNTY (KABC) -- An evacuation advisory has been lifted for residents living in the Silverado Canyon burn area.

The advisory was issued Friday afternoon due to potential flooding and debris flows from a looming storm.

The Orange County Emergency Operations Center canceled the advisory early Saturday morning.

The advisory affected homes located east of 30311 Silverado Canyon Road.

The National Weather Service said a storm was approaching the area capable of producing up to a half-inch of rain within a two-hour period between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday. Evacuation routes could have become impassible due to flooding, mud and debris.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, only residents were allowed to enter the areas under the evacuation advisory, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

Homes situated against steep slopes burnt during the Silverado Fire in September were encouraged to follow the advisory, the sheriff's department said.

OC Public Works had sandbags for canyon residents available at OC Fire Authority's Station 14 at 29402 Silverado Canyon Road, and also at the corner of Santiago Canyon Road and Modjeska Canyon Road.

Residents with large animals were advised to follow their personal plans to move their animals. Residents were told to relocate small animals to OC Animal Care Services at 561 The City Drive South in Orange. Anyone with circumstances requiring assistance with large or small animal evacuations were urged to call OC Animal Care Services at (714) 935-6848 during regular business hours. After 5 p.m., call (714) 935-7158.

The Orange County Emergency Operations Center was activated at 3 p.m. The public information hotline was staffed and ready to accept calls at that time. The public information hotline is (714) 628-7085.

Any person with disabilities, access and functional needs requiring assistance in evacuating were advised call the public information hotline at (714) 628-7085.
