LADERA RANCH, Calif. (KABC) -- A fundraiser will be held at a pizzeria in Ladera Ranch Tuesday for a teacher at Cordillera Elementary School battling cancer.

Kristyn Fletcher, a wife and mother-of-four, was diagnosed with a rare form of appendix cancer.

"I've been told by both of the specialists that it's incurable," Fletcher said. "It's very rare so what they're doing is just trying to prolong my life and make it, you know, as meaningful as possible."

The fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Selma's Chicago Pizzeria at 27702 Crown Valley Parkway.

Forty percent of funds raised will benefit Fletcher, who has used all her sick leave and vacation days and is fighting the Saddleback Valley Unified School District to keep her health insurance.

Nearly $17,000 has been raised through an online funding site, http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/kristyn-fletcher-fighting-for-another-day/317173.
