Chase ends in crash in Murrieta
A chase in a stolen pickup that started in Glendale ended with the truck flying off the road in a shower of sparks after it lost a tire in Murrieta.

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Glendale police and the CHP chased a suspect in a stolen pickup truck on freeways through the San Gabriel Valley and south into Riverside County at high speeds Monday night.

The chase started in Glendale, and the driver fled at speeds well over 100 mph eastbound into the San Gabriel Valley. The suspect then headed south on the 71 and east on the 91, then southbound on the 15 Freeway.

The truck was driving with hazard lights on.

The chase ended in the Murrieta area when a tire fell off the truck, the driver lost control and the vehicle flew off the road in a shower of sparks.

The driver jumped out of the truck and tried to flee on foot but had nowhere to run and was taken into custody within a few minutes.
