Obama's LA trip includes Kimmel appearance, fundraisers
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- President Barack Obama is in Southern California for an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and a pair of Democratic fundraisers, and he's being accompanied by traffic jams and protesters.
On Kimmel's show, he participated in a "Mean Tweets" segment - voluntarily reading nasty comments made about him on Twitter. His previous taping of the segment, in March 2015, racked up more than 46 million views on YouTube.
He also discussed some of his own social media habits, noting that unlike Donald Trump "I don't tweet at 3 a.m. about people who insult me."

Outside Obama's fundraising appearance at the Beverly Hills home of Dreamworks executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, protesters demanded opposition to the Dakota Access pipeline.
The project is a multibillion dollar oil pipeline that stretches more than 1,100 miles from North Dakota to Illinois. It has attracted growing opposition from Native American and environmental groups over its impacts.
"We're here to tell Obama to halt the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. He's the only one who can do it," said protester Lauren Steiner in Beverly Hills.
The trip is Obama's 23rd to Southern California and his 42nd fundraiser.
The president's appearance is also causing a number of street closures and traffic jams on the Westside and San Fernando Valley.

Before he leaves town, Obama is also expected to attend a fundraiser Tuesday for Democratic Senate candidates at the home of American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy.
