Calabasas standoff ends with suspect in custody

CALABASAS, Calif. (KABC) -- An armed suspect was taken into custody following a nine-hour standoff at a recording studio in Calabasas early Saturday.

The suspect, identified as man in his 30s, was flushed out of the building with tear gas around 4:40 a.m.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to American Recording in the 22300 block of Mulholland Highway around 7:30 p.m. Friday. Deputies say the suspect, who was an employee of the business, pulled out a gun during an argument with his coworker.

The victim exited the location and called deputies who attempted to negotiate with the suspect throughout the night until tear gas was fired and the suspect surrendered. No deputies were injured, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Trina Schrader said.

The suspect is facing charges of threatening harm and brandishing a gun.
