WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Crews are still cleaning up on Monday after a water-main break caused massive flooding and a sinkhole in West Hollywood over the weekend.

A crew from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power remained busy on North Formosa Avenue, finishing repairs on the major water-main break that caused a big mess for residents.

The 12-inch water main broke in the 1200 block of North Formosa Avenue at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

The break sent thousands of gallons of water rushing down the street, submerged several vehicles, flooded a commercial building and caused extensive street damage.

Many people living in the area say they wish the LADWP would just repair the entire pipe -- as this was the third major water-main break they've had over the past few years.

"You know we're really frustrated. I mean it's outrageous. This thing has gone off three times on the same block," said area resident Andrew Falk.

Unfortunately, Falk is speaking from experience. This is the second car he's lost due to flooding in his underground parking structure.

Several neighbors had their vehicles submerged as well, including a corvette and a vintage roadster.

A car was submerged in water after a water main broke in the 1200 block of North Formosa Avenue in West Hollywood on Sunday, May 10, 2015.

"It's personal, too right? It's not just that insurance will cover it. It's, you know, you love your car sometimes," Falk said. "All of our stuff, all the things in your car, you don't think about it, but everything in your car is gone too because it's full of mud," Falk said.

The LADWP said the pipe was installed in 1936. Officials believe the age was likely to blame for the break.

Falk said he's heard that explanation before, and after these repairs are made, he hopes it doesn't hear it again.

"I don't know, I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem like they are either, honestly. Something needs to be done," Falk said.

In total, 27 customers were without water all day Sunday, but service was restored Sunday night.

As for the repairs on Formosa Avenue, officials say the road will likely open sometime before Wednesday evening.
