Elderly woman struck by hit-and-run driver near USC

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An elderly woman is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking in a marked crosswalk in Exposition Park.

Authorities say the incident happened on Monday at about 8 a.m. near the University of Southern California.

The 86-year-old woman is seen on surveillance video crossing the street eastbound on Adams Boulevard when she was struck by a silver-colored late model Infiniti SUV that turned northbound onto Figueroa Street.

The SUV slammed into the pedestrian, and then continued northbound on Figueroa Street without stopping to aid the woman.

The suspect made a U-turn about a block later and drove past the victim in the southbound lanes but did not stop. He continued to drive around the USC campus at a high rate of speed, police said, and even drove through a red light.
